Every year on 1 December, the world observes World AIDS Day to call for solidarity with the 38 million people living with HIV worldwide, and to remember the millions of lives lost to AIDS.

This day also serves as a reminder of a key promise under the Sustainable Development Goals: to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
