WCO – Uganda

As part of the “Witnesses of War, Builders of Peace” project, Women of Change Organization conducted closed psychosocial support and sharing sessions with refugee women in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda, in partnership with Yes She Is for Peace and Development Organization.

These sessions are not merely spaces for conversation, but a first step toward healing and rebuilding what war has shattered within women. Through sharing stories of loss, displacement, fear, and pain, women begin to reclaim their voices and restore trust in themselves and their communities.

In displacement and refugee contexts, psychosocial support and rebuilding social bonds become essential pillars of protection and peacebuilding. Women who have carried the burden of war are also those most capable of leading recovery, restoring social cohesion, and shaping a more just and secure future.

We believe that investing in women survivors is not only a humanitarian response, but a direct investment in sustainable peace, justice, and the prevention of recurring violence.

This is where the story begins… and this is where peace begins.
