Women of Change Organization, in collaboration with Yes She Is for Peace and Development Organization, has launched the “Witnesses of War, Makers of Peace” project, an initiative targeting displaced and refugee women affected by war, seeking to provide safe spaces for expression, healing, and strengthening women’s participation in peace and justice processes.
The project comes in response to the profound impacts the war has left on women, including loss, displacement, violations, and psychological and social trauma. It focuses on transforming testimonies and individual experiences from memories burdened with pain into tools for advocacy, reclaiming strength, and contributing to community peacebuilding.
Over the coming months, the project will implement a series of specialized trainings, webinars, and interactive dialogues aimed at building women’s capacities in the areas of psychosocial support, social cohesion, transitional justice, documentation, and active participation in peace efforts.
The project also aspires to create a supportive environment that enables women to reclaim their voices and strengthen their ability to transform survival experiences into pathways for social change, based on the recognition that women carry not only the scars of war, but also the keys to recovery and reconstruction.
Both organizations affirm that investing in women survivors of conflict represents an essential step toward sustainable peace built on justice, dignity, and truth, and that involving women in peacebuilding is not an option, but a necessity for achieving a more stable and equitable future.
